Welcome to the Website describing the activities and services of the Center for Respiratory Biology and Lung Disease, or The Lung Center. Our Center began in 2005 during a period of research expansion, the Strategic Research Plan, at the WVU Health Sciences Center.
Our goal is to promote research related to the understanding and treatment of lung diseases, especially those affecting the health of West Virginian. We currently focus on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma, and the impact of air pollution on lung health and disease.
The Center membership is composed of faculty in basic and clinical sciences. Working in collaborative teams, the Center promotes a translational approach in research where basic science understanding can be transferred quickly to the prevention or clinical treatment of lung diseases.
Sincerely,
Richard D. Dey, Ph.D.
