POSITION SUMMARY:   In collaboration with the Monongalia EMS Transport Coordinator and Monongalia EMS Duty supervisor, the dispatcher will provide comprehensive coordination of non-emergency medical transport services. In addition to primary duties, the dispatcher will provide administrative and operational support in patient care documentation, logistics, supply chain, facilities and other administrative and operational areas. 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

2.

Valid Driver’s License.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

Certified Dispatcher.

2.

Current or previous medical certification or license (EMT, Paramedic, Clinical Associate, Medical Assistant, RN, etc.)

EXPERIENCE:

1.

At least Two (2) years of experience as a dispatcher.

2.

At least Two (2) years as a medical provider (EMT, Paramedic, Clinical Associate, Medical Assistant, RN, etc.)

3.

Experience in the EMS industry.

4.

Experience in Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems (Zoll and/or Zeurcher).

5.

Experience in EMS billing, coding, and compliance.

1.

Processes requests for patient transportation.

2.

Ensures proper medical necessity.

3.

Coordinates with Transport Coordinator and facility Care Management on non-emergency transport pre-approvals.

4.

Assists with Physician Certification Statement (PCS) completion and compliance with requesting facilities.

5.

Answers incoming administrative and non-emergency telephone lines in a courteous and professional manner.

6.

Monitors 911 and non-emergency asset tracking to ensure units are en route in a timely fashion and other units are within acceptable distances within coverage area.

7.

Utilizes the CAD system to enter call information and assign assets efficiently.

8.

Works with mutual aid agencies to coordinate transport needs.

9.

Ensures paperwork compliance and crew feedback processes.

10.

Provides logistics support and restocking of assets.

11.

Assists with data entry, filing, and keeping the operation organized.

12.

Keeps accurate records regarding transportation data and reports to team.

13.

Maintains communication with ground assets to ensure proper information is being given and received.

14.

Obtains all necessary and relevant information to meet and generate a transport need.

15.

Serves as a resource for staff, mutual aid agencies, and facility staff.

16.

Completes all necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

17.

Works with duty supervisor to assist in allocating crews for Monongalia County 911 coverage.

18.

Monitors all radio traffic while simultaneously listening for pre-alerts to incoming calls to prevent unnecessary delays in patient care.

19.

Identifies and reports field performance concerns to appropriate Mon EMS captain.
