POSITION SUMMARY: Provide specialized patient care and/or departmental research.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

Current licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse in state of practice required.

2.

West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.

EXPERIENCE:

1.

Two years’ experience as an RN AND/OR five years’ experience as an LPN required.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.

1.

Responsible for providing specialized professional nursing care.

2.

Provide daily rounds to assess patient status.

3.

Assist provider when required.

4.

Act as first contact for patients under particular medical service.

5.

Removal of sutures, assist in surgical arena.

6.

Perform exams and tests, evaluate the results.

7.

Educate and counsel patients concerning pertinent information for the medical condition. Prepare educational materials for patient use.

8.

Assist with insurance pre-authorization, coordination of ancillary testing, scheduling, and referrals.

9.

Contact medical insurance companies to provide comprehensive medical information in order to obtain authorization.

10.

Ensure all necessary testing and scheduling is complete prior to necessary procedures. Provides follow up to such.

11.

Work in conjunction with Clinical Scheduler to achieve all necessary prior pre-authorization, testing and scheduling is accomplished prior to necessary procedures or surgeries.

12.

Provide specialized nursing assistance in research efforts.

13.

Compile reference materials.

14.

Summarize data and prepare reports.

15.

Draft manuals and materials.
