S. Suresh Madhavan, MBA, PhD, is a Professor and Chair of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy, and Professor of Community Medicine at West Virginia University (WVU). Following completion of his Bachelor of Pharmacy and MBA degrees in India, he completed a PhD in pharmacy administration at Purdue University, and joined the faculty of the WVU School of Pharmacy in 1988.  Dr. Madhavan has been involved in numerous grants and contracts exceeding $5 million from federal and state agencies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers. He is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) of two multi-year state contracts.  Dr. Madhavan has been a grant reviewer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Cancer Institute, and has been a manuscript reviewer for twelve research journals. He is active in several national organizations in and outside of pharmacy, has served on several immunization advisory boards, and on two gubernatorial task forces on prescription drug benefits. Dr. Madhavan also provides pharmaceutical policy support to West Virginia agencies and provider groups.
