Mentoring Core
Purpose:
A regular and structured mentoring plan will support junior faculty from various disciplines in their pursuit of a career in health services or health outcomes research. Mentoring relationships can serve as an invaluable channel of information, research skills and subject matter for junior researchers’ success. Mentors with an established track history in health services research, along with a mentoring plan, will provide guidance and direction for junior faculty to initiate their individual research interests within the current research climate at WVUHSC. The main purpose of developing the mentoring program is to assist junior faculty members in developing the research skills and experience needed over time to be more competitive for extramural funding.
- Form mentoring relationships between senior and junior health services research faculty.
- Formalize a mentoring plan and process.
- Fine tune the mentoring program for long-term use.
