The West Virginia Rural Health Research Center
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Rural Health Policy has selected the West Virginia University Institute for Health Policy Research to lead one of six national centers devoted to rural health research.
The West Virginia Rural Health Research Center, within the Institute, will conduct policy-relevant research on environmental health in rural populations, with an emphasis on the health impacts of human-made environmental risks, and on health care that is responsive to local environmental issues. The Center also pursues topics related to social and economic health disparities.
The Center joins five other funded centers around the nation working collaboratively with each other and the Office of Rural Health Policy to address issues of national concern in improving health and health care for rural populations. More information will be forthcoming soon, including a Center-specific webpage and other online resources.
