The Center for Neuroscience held its first annual Neuroscience Retreat on September 25-26, 2006 at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Activities for the two-day event included a poster session, podium talks, discussions on translational research, and strategic planning of program project grants. Over 110 neuroscientist attendees this inaugural gathering.
Our guest speaker was David Van Essen, Ph.D., President-elect of the Society for Neuroscience, and Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. He delivered a keynote address to our researchers, discussed career opportunities in the evolving field of neuroscience with our graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and presented a science talk about his own research.
