Manager, Biomedical Imaging Core Facility
Sensory Neuroscience Research Center
West Virginia University

The West Virginia University Research Corporation (WVURC) seeks a full-time manager (MS or higher degree in physics or engineering preferred) for the light microscopic imaging and image analysis facility in the Sensory Neuroscience Research Center at West Virginia University. Responsibilities include: implementation and optimization of experimental protocols for fluorescence imaging procedures such as FRET and ratiometric imaging and intrinsic imaging, computer program development for image analysis, and identification of new equipment for acquisition. This individual should have appropriate training and expertise in optics and maintenance of optical microscopes and lasers and interest in and ability to train others in experimental methods. Familiarity with C-language and Matlab and a variety of operating systems is highly desirable. Expertise with imaging biological systems is also desired. Applicants should have an interest in learning and remaining current with new imaging techniques and applications. This individual will also manage computers associated with imaging equipment, assist investigators in troubleshooting hardware problems, and participate in the submission of grant applications to acquire additional equipment for the imaging core facility.

Equipment housed by the Center includes a confocal microscope with off-line image analysis station, live cell imaging systems for integrating image capture and electrophysiology and detecting fluorescent biochemicals at low-light levels, intrinsic in-vivo optical imaging system and integrated hardware and software for quantitative transmitted light and fluorescence microscopy. Plans are underway for acquisition of multiphoton microscopy systems.
