Center faculty are drawn from Health Sciences Center departments, from departments from other Colleges at WVU, as well as from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)/Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute (BRNI), an independent research facility dedicated to studies of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases.
We have established state-of-the-art technical capabilities such as the transgenic rodent and proteomics core facilities and the Center for Advanced Imaging, which houses high field magnetic resonance and positron emission tomography scanners, and neurophysiology lab with transcranial magnetic stimulation capability. These facilities were established in part through a COBRE grant from the National Center for Research Resources/NIH and a highly competitive research infrastructure grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. A regular series of interactive events bring Center faculty together and provide a challenging, supportive environment for graduate and fellowship training.
