Research Interests

Organization of cortical function at submillimeter scale
How is the cortex organized at a submillimeter scale? What are the mechanisms that engage neural circuitry during visual processing to construct this intricate functional organization? We investigate these issues in the visual cortex by combining three methodological approaches: 1) high resolution intrinsic optical imaging, 2) single unit extracellular electrophysiology, and 3) correlative neuroanatomy.

Advanced cortical imaging acquisition and analysis
Recent developments in cortical imaging offer the best view yet of living cortical tissue, but there are still a number of methodological constraints that limit final image quality. We use engineering and computational approaches to improve our visualization of the cortex "at work."
