Research Interests
Communication is one of the most important abilities that humans possess. The loss of this ability can be devastating. Our research is aimed at furthering our knowledge of how the brain allows us to communicate; in particular, how it enables us to produce and understand speech. In addition, we study neurogenic communication disorders (speech and language problems caused by brain damage, such as stroke), with the aim of improving treatment for these disorders. We employ a variety of research techniques, including acoustic analysis, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
