We investigate the normal production and perception of speech. Ultimately, this will allow us to develop a better understanding of disorders of speech perception and production, so that we can improve treatment for these disorders. We employ a variety of research techniques, including acoustic analyses, such as speech spectrography, and behavioral methods, such as manipulating the feedback that subjects receive from their own speech. We can use acoustic analysis to compare the speech of individuals with speech problems to the speech of normal speakers.
