Public Health students tackle real-world issues at WVU Undergraduate Research Symposium
Three undergraduate students from West Virginia University School of Public Health earned recognition for their scholarly research at the WVU Undergraduate Research Symposium, showcasing projects that address critical issues ranging from first aid education and illicit substance use to maternal health risks.

Fulfilling a childhood dream: Dental school graduate reflects on his journey at WVU
When Carson Cochran was 8 years old, his art teacher asked the class to set a long-term goal and paint one eye of a Daruma doll—a traditional Japanese figure symbolizing perseverance. The other eye is painted once the goal is achieved. That day, Cochran decided his goal was to become a dentist.
Book Club available for Health Sciences students this summer
BeWell is hosting a book club for Health Sciences students during summer 2025. The group will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, beginning June 12 at the Market Pods.
School of Nursing student makes WVU Women’s Track and Field program history
Olivia Cress, a WVU School of Nursing student who balances her time between academics and athletics on the WVU Women’s Track & Field team, recently made program history placing in the top 5 for the programs pentathlon event. She shared her journey to being a nursing student and how she balances that with track.

WVU Health Sciences partnership with First Presbyterian aims to help the community through outreach and screenings
The WVU School of Nursing, the WVU School of Pharmacy, the WVU School of Medicine, and First Presbyterian Church have collaborated to provide clinical service as an outreach program for people experiencing homelessness and poverty in the Morgantown area. Some of the services include checking vital signs, blood glucose screenings, glaucoma screenings, health education and pharmaceutical education.
WVU School of Nursing hosts Jenab Lectureship, celebrating student awards and Sigma inductees
The WVU School of Nursing hosted the Lorita D. Jenab Lectureship on April 24, welcoming keynote speaker Dr. Cynthia Persily. The event also celebrated student awards for 2025 and the newest inductees of the Alpha Rho Chapter of the Sigma International Honor Society.
