Available animal models

The ESC offers transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO), distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (dMCAO), hypoxia ischemia (HI), epidural application (EA), and white matter injury (WMI) models. We can also build up experimental animal models per research needs and investigators’ requests.

Models of rodent cerebral ischemia: transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) vs. distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (dMCAO).

Hypoxia ischemia (HI) model.

Epidural Application (EA) model via cranial window.

White Matter Injury (WMI) model

Equipment available at ESC

We have instruments available: active scavenging anesthesia system, surgical microscope, laser doppler monitor, laser speckle contrast imager, hypoxia chamber, blood gas analyzer, tattooing system, invasive/non-invasive blood pressure monitor, microinjection pump, WES system, etc.

Active Scavenging Anesthesia System

Surgical Microscope

Laser Doppler Monitor – Monitor blood flow changes

Laser Speckle Contrast Imager - Determine blood flow changes with image outcomes

Hypoxia chamber

Blood Gas Analyzer—Test blood pH value, gases, and electrolytes

WES system – Separate and analyze protein targets by size from 2-440 kDa
