  • Danielle Doll, PhD student working with the James W. Simpkins received the 1st Place Award, Basic Science Oral Presentation Division at the Eastern-Atlantic Student Research Forum, Miami, FL, February 27, 2015.
  • Jessica Povroznik, working with Paola Pergami, received the 1st Place Award in the Masters Division at the annual Van Liere Research Day competition, February 28, 2015.
  • Liz Engler-Chiurazzi, Director of the Rodent Behavior Core, received the Second Place Award, Post-Doctoral Fellow Poster Division at the annual Van Liere Research Day competition, February 28, 2015.
  • Taura Barr and her research team received a 2015 WVU Innovation Award from the WVU for having recently developed a diagnostic tool that can tell from a blood draw if a person is having a stroke, and when it began.

  • James W. Simpkins, received the 2014-2015 Benedum Distinguished Scholar Award in the category of Biosciences and Health Sciences from the Benedum Foundation, April, 2015.
  • James W. Simpkins was President, International Society for Aging and Disease from 2013-2016.
  • James W. Simpkins was appointed the Highland Chair of Stroke/Neurology in 2015.
  • James W. Simpkins received the IDeA Institutional Development Award for Clinical and Translational Research Mentoring in 2015.
