WVU's Charleston campus is a regional campus of the School of Medicine where nearly one-third of WVU's third- and fourth-year medical students complete their training at the state's largest hospital, the Charleston Area Medical Center.
Every day, more than 500 health professional students or residents actively learn and give care within the CAMC-WVU system. Each year, more than 70 medical students and just under 200 residents choose to participate in this joint program in specialties such as behavioral medicine and phsychiatry, family medicine, surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology. Nursing and pharmacy programs are also offered.
CAMC provides services, education and research to a population base of nearly 500,000 in southern West Virginia, admits over 40,000 individuals through the hospital system and provides outpatient services to over 200,000 individuals annually.
