WVU School of Nursing welcomes new ambassadors for 2024-25 academic year

Bella Bock (top left), Hannah Ramsey (top right), Lyndsey Maiolo (bottom left), and Emily Kuykendall (bottom right) are the newest ambassadors for the WVU School of Nursing.

The West Virginia University School of Nursing is pleased to welcome four new ambassadors for the 2024-25 academic year on the Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser campuses.

Joining the Morgantown team is Bella Bock, a junior in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Fairmont native said she wanted to become an ambassador because she loves interacting and answering questions for prospective nursing students.

As for why she chose nursing herself, she said, “I want to become a nurse because I love being able to make a difference in someone’s life and to be an advocate for my patient so that they can get the best care possible.”

After graduation, Bock plans to work in the pediatric ICU and she hopes to further her education to become a nurse anesthetist.

The Beckley Campus is welcoming two new ambassadors, Lyndsey Maiolo and Hannah Ramsey.

“I want to be a student ambassador because I want to become more involved in my community and within my school itself,” said Maiolo, of Beckley.

She said she chose nursing “because I have a desire to help people and take care of them when they are in their most vulnerable state and hardest days of their lives.”

Ramsey, of Oak Hill, will be working specifically with pre-nursing students to help them succeed.

“I want to show pre-nursing students what it’s like to be a nursing student and help them stay on track mentally and emotionally while they strive for acceptance into the program,” Ramsey said. “Making connections with them will help them feel more comfortable on their journey to nursing school.”

Emily Kuykendall will join the Keyser Campus as their new ambassador. The Moorefield native, part of the Class of 2026, said she chose nursing because she wanted a career that would help her care for others but also allow her to experience a variety of specialties.

“I love the lateral movement that a nursing career can provide because you are not stuck in one place,” Kuykendall said.

As for becoming an ambassador, she said she wanted to be able to pass along her knowledge and experience to prospective students, especially at the Keyser Campus setting.

“I started on the Morgantown Campus and then ended up coming back to Keyser,” Kuykendall shared. “I chose to make the switch because I wanted to be able to develop closer relationships with the nursing faculty and to be closer to home. It has been the best decision for me, and I love the small town feel of the Keyser Campus.”
