Cell & Molecular Biology and Biomedical Engineering Traineeship Positions Available
The WVU Cell & Molecular Biology and Biomedical Engineering Training Program (CBTP), funded by NIGMS grant T32 GM133369, is accepting applications for the 2021-2022 academic year.
CBTP is an integrated graduate training program that crosses several departments and colleges at West Virginia University (WVU). Preceptors are drawn from Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Exercise Physiology, Microbiology/Immunology, Neurosciences, Ophthalmology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Physiology/Pharmacology, and trainees from the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) and Biomedical Engineering (BMEG) Ph.D. Programs respectively.
Ph.D. students in these programs can apply for appointment to the CBTP program at the end of their first year. Preference is given to those committed to incorporating interdisciplinary perspectives and methods to address important problems in cell biology, molecular biology and/or biomedical engineering.
The goals of the CBTP are:
- To enhance and broaden scientific development of pre-doctoral students in BMS and BMEG programs
- To enhance professional and career development of pre-doctoral students
The CBTP aims to achieve these goals by supporting the following activities:
1) Nanocourses on topics selected by students
2) Seminars, regional meetings & symposia
3) Student sabbaticals, travel awards and experiential activities
Pre-doctoral applicants for a CBTP trainee position* should submit:
- An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae or Biosketch (should include academic, research and employment history, awards, accomplishments, presentations, publications and academic record [courses taken and grades received])
- A brief statement of how your research interests relate to the themes of the CBTP and what you expect to gain from participation in CBTP activities (limit to 1 page single spaced)
- A letter of support from your mentor- this must convey a clear commitment from your mentor to participate in CBTP program activities.
