School of Nursing return to campus this fall - a message from Dean Hulsey

Dear WVU School of Nursing students, faculty and staff:

Yesterday Dr. Gee announced a change to return to campus this fall for the WVU community. I would like to provide clarity on what this means for the WVU School of Nursing.

Nursing undergraduate programs – Morgantown campus

Nursing undergraduate programs on the Morgantown campus will follow the new start date of August 26.  However, with that comes the need to extend some clinical placements to the week following Thanksgiving.  More details will be given to students whom this will affect.

If your clinicals continue after Thanksgiving, we ask that you consider not leaving West Virginia during the holiday. We know this is a tough option to consider and being with family and friends is incredibly important, but this will help keep the spread of COVID-19 down in the state.

Nursing undergraduate programs – Beckley, Charleston, Keyser

Nursing undergraduate programs in Beckley, Charleston and Keyser will commence as scheduled on August 19.  There will be no change.

Nursing graduate programs

Nursing graduate programs will commence as scheduled by the program. There will be no change.

If you have any specific questions about being a School of Nursing student and returning to campus this fall, please post your questions on the SON COVID discussion forum on SOLE.  Along with Dr. Tanya Rogers, Associate Dean of Academics & Chair, Dept of Adult Health, I monitor and answer the questions. We know that this is a stressful time for everyone, and we want to make sure you have the information you need to have a successful semester.

We are eager to have you back on campus, and your safety and wellness are top priorities. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these changes.

Sincerely,

Dean Hulsey
