Murugesan Velayutham, Ph.D.

Dr. Velayutham is a classically-trained electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopist with an extensive experience in application of EPR spectroscopy, imaging, and EPR spin trapping technology in the field of free radical biology and medicine.

The sphere of interest:

Dr. Velayutham research interest has been focusing on understanding the role of free radicals, reactive oxygen species, and NO in cardiovascular biology/diseases. He also applies EPR spectroscopy and imaging techniques and various biophysical modalities to measure and map redox status in in vitro and in vivo biological systems. His research interests also include the development of chemo-preventive drugs/biomolecules and understanding the mechanisms of these drugs/biomolecules in the application to cardiovascular diseases, organ transplantation and cancer.
