8 southeast opens

8 southeast, part of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI), will open Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 8 a.m.

There will be 24 step-down beds available to accommodate step-down, telemetry, and floor patients.

The unit's phone number is 304-598-6500.

With the opening of 8 southeast, both of the southeast tower patient transport elevators will re-open.

Eight more beds will be available in October, bringing the total to 32. The nurse-to-patient ratio is one-to-three, according to HVI officials.
