Dentistry alumni association president shares message for the new year

Association reviews 2018 accomplishments, looks ahead to 2019

Dear School of Dentistry Alumni and Friends,

I hope that you and your family had a Merry Christmas and look forward to a Happy New Year in 2019. I would like to take a moment to reflect on 2018 and thank all of you for your continued support of the WVU School of Dentistry Alumni Association. “YOUR” ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.

The Board of Governors met several goals this year with the main one being support to the WVU School of Dentistry Faculty Fund, as stated below by Dean Borgia:

“The $200,000 investment, made possible through individual donations and a match from the School of Dentistry Alumni Association, has already provided for faculty development opportunities including continuing education courses for advancement.”

Your association continues to engage with both dental and dental hygiene students by holding Student Alumni Day in September. This is an opportunity for the students to meet with alumni board members and class gifts are distributed. Class gifts are items to help each student day-to-day in class and/or clinic. The association purchases these gifts in order to help defray the cost to the students. The association also provides support for student events throughout each academic year.

Employment Opportunities

Please note the Job Opportunities link on the school webpage where students can learn about career leads and practice opportunities. Alumni can submit open dental and dental hygiene positions and practice opportunities. You can do so through the WVU School of Dentistry Job Board submission form.

In closing, I would like to remind every alum of the WVU School of Dentistry of the importance of becoming a member of the association or continuing to be a member of “YOUR” alumni association. It gives me pride to see where this association started and where we are currently. I am asking that you take a moment and reflect back to your days at the school and where you are today. Our Dental School gave us the opportunity to have the quality of life that we have now. The association is recognized as the most active alumni association within the Health Sciences Center. PLEASE consider becoming a member or continuing as a member in order for the association to move forward in 2019.

I am proud to be a graduate of the WVU School of Dentistry and serve as your president of the alumni association. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions, ideas, or comments regarding the association.

Sincerely,

Ron
