Berkeley Medical Center Auxiliary donates items for newborns, mothers
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – The Auxiliary of WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center raised funds to support initiatives for keeping infants born in the facility healthy and safe. In addition to improving safety, these initiatives ensure that the hospital continues to meet the rigorous Baby Friendly Hospital compliance guidelines, a designation earned by the facility in December of 2018.
The Auxiliary’s donations included portable cribs, breastfeeding literature and infant car seats. Breastfeeding educational brochures are distributed to all mothers who deliver at Berkeley Medical Center, ensuring they have the proper resources to make informed decisions about feeding. Portable cribs and infant car seats are distributed to families in need who indicate they do not have a safe sleeping environment or means of transporting their newborn baby.
“The Auxiliary is honored to provide these important resources to families in need who deliver at Berkeley Medical Center,” Carole Daly, Auxiliary President, says. “Having the proper equipment and knowledge is so important when it comes to keeping newborn babies safe. Something as seemingly simple as taking your baby home from the hospital becomes a huge challenge when you lack the funds for appropriate equipment. We hope these donations will provide comfort and piece-of-mind to new parents.”
The Auxiliary sponsors numerous fundraisers throughout the year to support patient services, staff education, and facility enhancements at Berkeley Medical Center. For more information on the Auxiliary, including membership, call the Marketing Department at 304-264-1223.
