BMT Program rated as Program of Excellence

Congratulations to our Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) team! The Cigna LifeSOURCE Transplant Network has rated the WVU Cancer Institute Osborn Hematopoietic Malignancy and Transplantation Program a Program of Excellence once again. Cigna, an insurance company WVU contracts with that allows patients to be transplanted at our facility, based the excellence designation on specific criteria and guidelines, including number and types of transplants, patient survival and disease status. “This validates that our program provides superior care,” says Sonia Leadmon, oncology quality coordinator at the Cancer Institute’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. WVU has been rated a Cigna Program of Excellence every year since 2014 and has received excellence designations from several other insurance companies for its BMT program.
