Brain and spine care topic of community program

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on the latest advances in brain and spine care.

The seminar will be held on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus. The program will feature WVU Medicine East physicians Mark Lyerly, M.D., board certified neurosurgeon, and Shoji Ishigami, M.D., board certified physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr. Lyerly and Dr. Ishigami will discuss the innovative treatments now being offered at WVU Medicine East for those suffering from disease or injury related to the brain and spine. Topics will include minimally invasive surgery and robotic-assisted surgery as well as an evidence-based approach to diagnose and treat painful spine disorders.

Registration for the mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 p.m. The mini-medical program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVU Medicine and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus.
