Central Command Center debuts at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital

A Central Command Center, established to improve operational efficiencies and enhance care for patients, will debut today (Monday, Oct. 15) at 9 a.m. The center will be located in conference rooms 3A/3B on the fourth floor of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital (the area will now be called the Central Command Center).

“This new center will enable key personnel to work symbiotically and will improve operational efficiencies in patient throughput, which will impact length of stay for some patients and enhance care overall,” said Doug Mitchell vice president and chief nursing officer for WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals.

The center will be staffed by key personnel, who will be present at least part of each day. House supervisors will oversee operations, and monitor beds and staffing. Other personnel will include:

  • Environmental Services leadership
  • Patient Transport leadership
  • Care Management
  • MARS intake nurses
  • Utilization Review
  • Hospital Safety
