Chaplains needed for Spiritual Care Program at Jefferson Medical Center

RANSON, W.Va. - Spiritual Care Services at WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center is a ministry of healing that provides emotional and spiritual support to patients, their families, hospital staff, and volunteers.

The program was established in 2011 to support the health and well-being of patients and staff. Volunteer chaplain associates, who represent many faiths and are an integral part of the healthcare team at Jefferson Medical Center, are available to offer support as well as listen with openness and understanding.

Chaplain associates have received special training to deal with critical illness in time of need and provide on-call spiritual care for emergency situations. They also offer routine visits to patients on a scheduled basis.

Jefferson Medical Center is currently recruiting chaplains interested in joining the Spiritual Care Services team. Preferred qualifications include ordination and at least two years of pastoral experience as a religious leader of a recognized religious organization, group, or denomination.
