Charlton inducted into West Virginia Health Care Hall of Fame

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Judie Charlton, M.D., chief medical officer for WVU Medicine and vice dean for clinical affairs for the West Virginia University School of Medicine, was inducted into the West Virginia Health Care Hall of Fame by West Virginia Executive magazine. She and the nine other inductees were honored at the program’s inaugural event on March 3 at the West Virginia Culture Center.

“I was very surprised and pleased to receive this honor,” Dr. Charlton said. “The citizens of West Virginia made my education and career possible, and I’ve always hoped that I could repay them through service and making the state healthier.  This award validates to me that my efforts have been valued and appreciated.”

West Virginia Health Care Hall of Fame inductees are leaders who have made a significant contribution to the health care industry and supporting industries and have a passion for making the state a happier, healthier place to live.

The 2020 inductees include: Dino Beckett, D.O., CEO and physician at Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Inc.; Judie Charlton, M.D., chief medical officer for WVU Medicine and vice dean for clinical affairs for the West Virginia University School of Medicine; David Clayman, Ph.D., owner and director of Clayman & Associates, PLLC; Sami Ghareeb, D.D.S., MAGD, LLSR, founder and dentist at Ghareeb Dental Group; Becky Harless, associate administrator of the ambulatory division at Charleston Area Medical Center; Tammy Jordan, president, executive pastry chef and lead agriculture instructor for Fruits of Labor, Inc.; Tom McClellan, M.D., founder and owner of McClellan Plastic Surgery; Jill Scarbro-McLaury, CEO of Bright Futures Learning Services; Joseph Shapiro, M.D., vice president and dean of the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine; and Rick Simon, CEO of Community Care of West Virginia.
