Chief Operations Officer Ron Pellegrino outlines next steps in parking plan

To all WVU Medicine employees:

We wanted to keep everyone informed about the next steps to resolve the parking issues.

We’re grateful to our staff who have reached out to us with parking concerns. Your input has been valuable and, after hearing your concerns, we are working toward plans that we anticipate will create a better long-term situation for all.

  1. We are forming a Parking Advisory Team, composed of a cross-section of front-line staff. The Parking Advisory Team will include 12 staff members representing various segments of our workforce, including day- and night-shift employees, new and senior employees, and a range of roles and work areas on the Ruby campus.
  2. We have engaged expertise from the WVU Statler College of Engineering, Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and Development (CESD) to provide technical assistance and advice. CESD will work directly with the Parking Advisory Team. We think it will help having employee input combined with University engineers to effectively evaluate our parking situation. We hope this process gathers as many perspectives and opinions as possible and helps us move quickly toward a better parking plan.

Remember, for the time being, we will continue the following to ease traffic flow.

  • Parking lots A1/A2 will remain open for employees.
  • Overflow parking when the A and F lots become full.
  • Extra shuttles during peak times.
  • Additional parking is available in the new garage on a temporary basis to employees with a blue parking pass who park on campus (no access card needed).

Thank You,
Ron Pellegrino, MD
