Copay no longer required for Care Connection video visits

A copay will no longer be required for Care Connection video visits offered to employees and family members who are enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan and who live in West Virginia.

The service began this spring for patients of Family Medicine (children and adults) within this insurance group and had previously required a $24.50 copay.

Video visits are one of the many ways WVU Medicine is making care more readily available and accessible to its patients.

During a video visit, the patient can meet face-to-face with a representative from Family Medicine for acute, non-emergent, primary care needs, including coughs, colds, rashes, aches, and pains. Using a tablet, smart phone, or computer equipped with internet access and web camera, the patient can see a healthcare provider from home, work, or nearly any location in between.

To schedule a video visit, go to MyWVUChart and follow this step-by-step guide. This flyer describes the process of establishing a video link with a provider. This video, available only on CONNECT, gives users an overview of the process.

The Care Connection program also offers nurse navigators (nurses on call) and e-visits to meet the healthcare needs of employees (and family members) enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan. These free resources help quickly assess the appropriate level of care for each patient and reduce the number of unnecessary visits to the Emergency Department, Urgent Care, and other clinics.
