Dr. John Campo at WVU Festival of Ideas

Event Date: 09/11/2018

Event Location: Okey Patteson Auditorium, WVU Health Sciences Center

John Campo, MD, chief behavioral wellness officer, assistant dean for behavioral health, and professor of behavioral medicine and psychiatry at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, will be the first speaker in WVU's Festival of Ideas Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. in the Okey Patteson Auditorium at the WVU Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Campo will present "Suicide Prevention Across the Lifespan." The talk highlights the public health realities of suicide and the disparity between the enormous societal impact of suicide and our investment in prevention. The relevance of access to health and mental health services and selected suicide prevention strategies will be reviewed, with special emphasis on prevention efforts targeting rural populations.

The Festival of Ideas series addresses topics at the forefront of the American conversation – from suicide prevention and genetically engineered food to civic engagement and why we should resist hate with free speech instead of censorship.
