Employee Appreciation Picnic scheduled for July 29-30

Get ready for the 2020 WVU Medicine Employee Appreciation Picnic! This year’s theme is “Fiesta” as we celebrate our “Nacho Average Employees.”

The night-shift event will begin Wednesday, July 29, at 11 p.m. and will end at 2:30 a.m., July 30. The day-shift event will take place from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. later that day (July 30). Both events will be held in the same location; in the parking lot between the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and the Emergency Department parking garage. Limited seating will be available on the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute lawn.

Both the night- and day-shift events will include entertainment from a DJ and a delicious selection of food, drinks, and desserts. Forget the typical hot dogs and hamburgers, this year we are spicing it up with a taco bar accompanied with all of your favorites. There will even be a separate food line for those individuals who have dietary restrictions; vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available.

Unfortunately, due to the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be able to have the usual games, live band, photo booth, or the department tables/activities.

Employees are reminded to present their ID badge for admission to the picnic. Please keep in mind that admittance is only permitted once and to WVU Medicine employees only. To keep traffic flowing smoothly and to follow current guidelines, all food will be served by hired staff, boxed, and then handed to you. Even though the event is outside, we ask you to wear your mask when you are not eating.

Shuttles

  • Extra shuttles will run back and forth between the picnic location and the Operations Support Center (ROC 2) for the duration of the day-shift event.
  • Shuttles will continue to run their normal schedule for off-campus parking.

Note: We would like to encourage all members of leadership to ensure coverage of their areas by increasing staffing on the day of the event so that everyone has a chance to enjoy the picnic.

Volunteers

To all of the members of our leadership team, we are requesting more help than ever before. If you would like the chance to sign up and volunteer your time at the picnic (for either shift), please click here to pick your times. You do not have to be a leader to volunteer; however, you will need their permission to participate.

For those who are volunteering, there will be a designated “Volunteer” table near the entrance of the tent. Please stop there first to check-in and receive your responsibility details.

Prize giveaways

Taco 'bout amazing prizes...this year features the biggest selection of prizes, yet. Entry for the prize giveaways is available to every WVU Medicine/WVU Hospitals employee electronically. Due to current regulations and restrictions, there will not be a station at the picnic this year to select your prizes. However, there will be signs with instructions located at the event, as well as a link on CONNECT; an email will also be sent out with details. The prize link will be active starting Monday, July 27, at 9 a.m. through Sunday, Aug. 2, at midnight.

Each employee will have five chances this year, instead of the usual three to select a prize. A prize can be selected numerous times to increase the chances of winning. However, every employee will only be able to fill out the form one time. Prize selections can be changed; however, once the “submit” button has been clicked, entries cannot be altered. There will be no early or late entries accepted.

An electronic catalogue will be available to view with details on all the available prizes. Give it a look before you make your final selections. For questions about the prize raffle, please contact the Bravo! Program at (304) 598-6510
