Employees invited to celebrate Comprehensive Stroke Center achievement

The WVU Stroke Center invites all employees to celebrate the group's recent achievement as the state’s only Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Centers.

A celebration will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, from 1-3 p.m. in the third-floor lobby atrium of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Information on the Stroke Center and refreshments will be provided.

The WVU Stroke Center underwent a rigorous onsite review, during which Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with stroke-related standards and requirements. Read the press release.

Established in 2012, Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Centers is awarded for a two-year period to Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals. It is the highest of three stroke designations certified by the Joint Commission. With this certification, the WVU Stroke Center joins an elite group of healthcare organizations focused on highly-specialized stroke care.
