Fairmont Medical Center to open today

WVU Medicine Fairmont Medical Center, a campus of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, is opening on Tuesday, June 30, at the former location of Fairmont Regional Medical Center. The facility returns needed emergency and inpatient care to Fairmont and its surrounding communities.

Fairmont Medical Center will be home to a full-service emergency department, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The emergency department will be staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians, and is equipped with a fully-functioning lab and imaging suite. Ten acute care inpatient beds will be available for admitted patients.

The emergency and inpatient services will complement the care already provided at the WVU Medicine Outpatient Center off of the Fairmont Gateway Connector.

If the Fairmont Medical Center meets its expected patient volume goals, WVU Medicine will build a new hospital near the Outpatient Center with a projected opening of mid-2022.
