Free Oral Cancer Screening Event

Event Location: WVU Otolaryngology Clinic, Physician Office Center, Morgantown

Rusha Patel, MD, of the WVU Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, is hosting a free oral cancer screening event at the WVU Otolaryngology Clinic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April, 7.

Dr. Patel and other head and neck specialists will work with the WVU School of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences and dental students to perform the screenings. They will look for cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Another goal of the program is to educate residents about oral health, tobacco use, and monitoring for abnormal lesions.

The service includes a full oral screening and materials about the signs of oral cancer, risk factors, and continued screening.

The event is in connection with the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance’s Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week and Program.
