Gateway Home Care achieves ACHC accreditation

MARTINSBURG, W.VA. – Gateway Home Care, an affiliate of WVU Medicine, has achieved accreditation status by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).

Achieving accreditation is a process where healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

In order to be eligible for accreditation, an organization must complete an application with all required supporting documentation. Once it is determined that the organization meets the required national standards, an unannounced on-site survey is conducted.  Accreditation is determined based on the data submitted and the on-site survey results.

Gateway Home Care provides durable medical equipment products and services to residents of Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties.  Services include respiratory therapy, home care equipment sales and rentals, home medical supplies, pediatric home care services, and rehab and orthopaedic products.

“Our commitment to our patients and customers is for Gateway Home Care to be the local choice for products and services that help patients live as independently and actively as possible,” stated Judy Hockman, system director of outpatient clinical services at WVU Medicine University Healthcare. “I am very proud of our entire team for working together to achieve ACHC accreditation.”
