Heart Walk Kickoff

Want to get involved with the 2017 American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk?

Employees interested in serving as a team captain for the Heart Walk are invited to a kick-off event on Thursday, Aug. 31, from noon-1 p.m. in the boardroom located on the seventh floor of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital's southeast tower, in the administrative suite of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute.

Attendees will learn about the AHA’s impact in the local community and state, and have the opportunity to ask questions, register their team, and pick up a team packet. They will also be treated to a yogurt bar and other heart-healthy snacks.

Employees are encouraged to get involved as a team captain or walker to help WVU Medicine reach its goal of having at least 10 team captains and 100 walkers, and raising $10,000 to support cardiovascular research and educational programs.

All team captains will be entered into a drawing for a one-month parking pass in the Gold-South Parking Garage, located near the Emergency Department.

The Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Monongalia County Ballpark in Granville. The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, a sponsor of the event, will bring the Mega Heart to the event and offer tours.
