Hepatitis A vaccine available in Employee Health

Hepatitis A continues to be prevalent in the state of West Virginia. Though the risk of occupational exposure remains low, WVU Medicine is offering the hepatitis A vaccine to any employee who wants to receive it.

WVU Medicine employees can get a free hepatitis A vaccine in Employee Health. Located on the second floor of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Employee Health is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Employees will need to complete a hepatitis A survey in ReadySet prior to being vaccinated. Please call Employee Health at 304-598-4160 if you would like to complete the survey prior to your clinic visit.

“Hepatitis” means inflammation of the liver. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections. When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. Visit this link to learn more about hepatitis A, including who’s at increased risk.
