HSC, WVU Medicine employees invited to participate in Heart Walk

The WVU Health Sciences Center and WVU Medicine will once again participate in the American Heart Association’s Greater Morgantown Heart Walk. The WVU Heart Institute is a sponsor of this year’s event, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Monongalia County Ballpark.

Getting involved will further the AHA’s mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. According to the AHA, one in three Americans has some form of cardiovascular disease, and stroke is the leading cause of disability in the United States. Proceeds from the Heart Walk will benefit the AHA’s research, public health campaigns, educational programming, advocacy efforts and professional training.

HSC faculty, staff and students as well as WVU Medicine employees are invited to participate in the Heart Walk by forming teams of walkers. After designating a team captain, register your team by contacting Valerie Piko at valerie.piko@heart.org or 412-951-4200.
