Info Session for School of Nursing DNP CRNA Program

Event Location: Room 1905, WVU Health Sciences Center (north side)

The West Virginia University School of Nursing will have two information sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 21, for nurses interested in becoming certified registered nurse anesthetists through the school's new DNP Nurse Anesthesia major.

The School of Nursing anticipates enrolling the first cohort of students in January 2020, pending accreditation in the fall of 2019 by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).

During the sessions, Aaron Ostrowski, DNP, APRN, CRNA, program director, will discuss the curriculum, clinical sites, admission requirements, timelines, costs, and more. Sessions are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Room 1905 of the WVU Health Sciencesa Center (north side).

About the WVU School of Nursing DNP Nurse Anesthesia Major

The program will require students to take 87 credits over three years or nine continuous semesters. Students will complete more than 2,000 hours of clinical practice during the program to be eligible for graduation. The graduate will earn a DNP degree and be eligible to sit for the Certification Exam, a board exam administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Candidate graduates who pass the Certification Exam become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).
