Interprofessional health fair and WISH blood drive returns to Health Sciences Center

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Health Sciences students and faculty are asking folks to show some love for the health of others and themselves this Valentine’s Day.

The WVU Health Sciences Center will host a health fair and blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 at the John E. Jones Conference Center, adjacent to the HSC cafeteria.

Health screenings offered will include height, weight and body mass index measurements; hip and waist circumference; blood pressure; blood glucose; and heart health assessment. There will also be interactive educational opportunities, including oral health education, safe medication disposal, mental health assessments, healthy worksite information and a chance to “Talk to the Doc: Get Your Health Questions Answered.”

While the American Red Cross will be collecting pints of blood, participants will also have the chance to register as blood marrow donors.

Both events are sponsored by the Women in Health and Science Committee, the WVU Health Sciences Center and the WVU Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.
