Joint Commission to return for re-survey this month

The Joint Commission is scheduled to return to WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals between Aug. 13 and Aug. 27 to determine if Condition Level Deficiencies identified in the July survey have been corrected.

Organizations typically have 45-60 days to implement corrective action, but the nature of some of the issues were linked to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and needed to be corrected within 30 days, said Aaron Kocsis, RN, regulatory coordinator with WVU Medicine’ s Center for Quality Outcomes.

The survey team will include one clinician and one engineer and they will stay for one day.

Accreditation will depend on compliance with the Joint Commission’s final recommendations.
