Mandatory flu campaign at WVU Medicine proves successful

April 1 officially marks the end of flu vaccination season. While it’s likely flu cases may still surface, the vaccination screening process is complete. Employees may remove their gold or blue flu badges.

In 2015, WVU Medicine launched its first mandatory flu campaign. Over the course of the flu season, more than 8,000 employees, residents and faculty received their flu vaccine with more than 7,000 receiving them at Ruby Memorial Hospital through one of the Employee Health programs.

This inaugural campaign was a joint effort with Mon Health System.

“This year’s campaign was a success,” said Frank Briggs, vice president of quality and patient safety for WVU Medicine, “and the result of hours of hard work by Employee Health and the many nurses, pharmacists and respiratory therapists who helped administer the vaccine.”
