Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and WVU Healthcare host breast cancer screening evening

Event Date: 05/04/2015 from 04:00 PM - 08:00 PM

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at West Virginia University and WVU Healthcare will host a breast cancer screening evening from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 4, at the Cancer Center.

The evening will include free clinical breast exams at the Cancer Center clinic.  A clinical breast exam is a physical exam of the breast performed by a healthcare provider to check for lumps or other changes as defined by the National Cancer Institute.

Bonnie’s Bus, WVU’s digital mammography center on wheels, will be available for mammography screening.  Medicare, Medicaid, the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program, and all private insurances will be accepted to cover the cost of screening on Bonnie’s Bus.  Funding is available so that no woman over 40 is turned away.

Any additional tests needed that evening for a participant will be provided by the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center.

Advance registration is required for the clinical breast exams at the Cancer Center.  Please call 304-598-4500 to register. Anyone interested in having only a mammogram that evening can call the same number to schedule an appointment.

The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year and should keep on doing so for as long as they are in good health.
