WVU Medicine Open Enrollment 2018: Wellness Rewards Program deadline is Tuesday; educational sessions underway

WVU Medicine’s benefit open enrollment period will run from Wednesday, Nov. 1, through Wednesday, Nov. 15. Open enrollment information is available to help you understand your 2018 employee benefits. An open enrollment guide can be found on the hr.wvumedicine.org website. The guide was also mailed to employees' homes.

The Benefits Website at hr.wvumedicine.org has many resources to help you understand the 2018 benefit offerings. In addition to the open enrollment guide, the site includes FAQs and ALEX, an interactive online tool that makes it easy to understand ways to get the most value from your benefit elections.

If you still have questions after reviewing the website, plan to attend an educational session. Educational sessions are being held through Monday, Nov. 6. View the schedule.

You can also call the HR Service Team with questions: 1-833-599-2100 (available weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Don't forget that the deadline for the Wellness Rewards Program is Tuesday, Oct. 31. By completing the steps, you can qualify for the Wellness Incentive and avoid the Tobacco Surcharge. Visit http://hr.wvumedicine.org/ for details. Reminder that the preventive screening, one of the required steps, must occur between Oct. 1, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2017.

If you received a preventive exam visit between Oct. 1, 2016, and Aug. 31, 2017, no special action is required. However, if you had a preventive exam or have one scheduled between Sept. 1, 2017, and Dec. 31, 2017, acknowledge this on the preventive exam verification via the Wellness Rewards Program portal. Follow these steps:

  • Login to your Highmark account at http://www.highmarkbcbswv.com/.
  • Click on the "Rewards Program" link (you will be redirected to a new page with Wellness Rewards Program steps listed).
  • In the "Complete the Wellness Profile, Wellness Screening, and Preventive Exam" section, click "Keep Earning" to acknowledge your preventive exam.
  • Under the "Preventive Exam" section, if you do not see credit for your exam, click on "Certify Here." By clicking on this link, you will be directed to acknowledge when you had your visit or when your visit is scheduled. To certify your visit, you will need to know the date of the visit and your provider's name.

If you meet all requirements of the program, you will receive a reduction of either $500 for single coverage or $1,000 for all other coverage levels on your 2018 medical plan deductible and also avoid the tobacco surcharge.

The Wellness Rewards Program is not a requirement for dependent children. Covered spouses need to complete the tobacco activity portion of the survey. Covered employees must complete all steps to qualify.

Welcome to week two of the Wellness Rewards Program. If you are currently enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan in 2017, you now have three weeks, until Tuesday, October 31, to complete steps and qualify for the Wellness Incentive and to avoid the Tobacco Surcharge for you and your covered spouse in 2018. • Support Sessions: Starting Thursday, Oct. 12, representatives will be available to assist individuals with the completion of the Wellness Profile. Please bring your Highmark ID coverage card with you to the session. Find the details here.

  • Event Schedules: A few dates, times, and locations have changed for the wellness screenings and other live events. These have all been updated on the http://hr.wvumedicine.org/ website. Please visit the website for the most up-to-date information.

  • FAQs: The wellness FAQs, which can be found on the http://hr.wvumedicine.org/ website, continue to be updated based on your questions. Make them the first place you look for answers to your questions.

  • Computer Access: Employees who do not have computer access should use shared department computers or visit their local HR representative for help. Managers have been informed and will be reaching out to these employees.
