Papa John’s offers online promotions to benefit patient care at WVU Cancer Institute
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Papa John’s is rolling out the dough during West Virginia University men’s basketball season to benefit the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Fund, which was established by Coach Bob Huggins at the WVU Cancer Institute’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center to support cancer clinical trials.
The pizza chain is running two online promotions at participating Papa John’s restaurants statewide through May 16, 2016. Both offers will be available with specific promo codes that can be used at www.papajohns.com.
“We’re excited about our promotional offers that will benefit such a worthy cause,” Bryan Shaffer, chief operating officer for PFC, Inc., said. “It’s a win-win for everyone. We value the opportunity to team up and support the community, especially for a cause that has affected so many West Virginia families. Knowing that we could contribute to fund the research to beat this horrible disease is rewarding to all of us.”
Employees of WVU Medicine facilities across West Virginia will be provided an online promo code to receive a 30 percent discount on orders placed on the first Wednesday of each month. In addition, for every order placed on Giving Wednesdays using the online promo code, Papa John’s will donate 20 percent of each order to the Huggins Fund. The Giving Wednesdays promotion begins today (Nov. 18) and will continue on the first Wednesday of each month through May.
The second online promotion to benefit the Huggins Fund will be offered every day to Papa John’s customers at participating West Virginia locations. The offer is for a large, one-topping pizza for $11, and $1 of every purchase of that offer will be donated to the Fund. Customers should use the promo code HUGGS11 at www.papajohns.com.
Papa Johns, WVU Athletics, WVU Medicine, and the WVU Cancer Institute clinics across West Virginia will collectively promote the restaurant’s online offers.
“Any time we can help Coach Huggins boost support for the fund he created in his mother’s honor to help fight cancer, we are more than happy to do that,” Matt Wells, WVU associate athletic director, said.
Coach Huggins’ mother, Norma Mae Huggins, passed away in 2003 following a long battle with colon cancer.
“We are grateful to Papa John’s for teaming up with Coach Huggins and the WVU Cancer Institute to support clinical trials research,” John Naim, Ph.D., director of WVU’s Clinical Trials Research Unit, said. “Through these research studies, we are able to gain a better understanding of cancer, to test promising new, innovative methods of treatment, and ultimately advance cancer care.”
