Reminder: Heart Walk is Oct. 21

The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) is serving as a sponsor of the American Heart Association's (AHA's) annual Heart Walk, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Monongalia County Ballpark.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the opening ceremonies get underway at 9:45 a.m. The three-mile, non-competitive walk starts at 10:05 a.m.

The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute will bring the Mega Heart to the event and offer tours.

The AHA website provides opportunities to donate to your favorite WVU Medicine team.

Also, employees can donate by buying a red heart at the cash register in the Ruby Cafeteria. Each heart is $1.

Heart Walk T-shirts are available for a $15 donation (profits are donated to the AHA). They can be purchased through team captains or by stopping by HVI Administration, located on the seventh floor of the southeast tower, and asking for Angelyn McGrew.  

All walkers who show up the day of the event wearing their WVU Medicine Heart Walk shirt will be eligible to win a gift basket. Two names will be drawn, one for the large WVU basket, which will include two WVU football tickets, and one for a Starbucks basket.
