Slain selected to distinguished national pharmacy fellowship program
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Doug Slain, Pharm.D., of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, was selected as a Fellow in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Dr. Slain received the honor at the recent ASHP Summer Meeting and Exhibition in Baltimore, Md.
The ASHP Fellow Recognition Program serves to recognize excellence in hospital and health-system pharmacy. Those who are nominated to become fellows must have sustained a level of excellence throughout the course of their career in pharmacy by having demonstrated superior health-system practice and professionalism for 10 years or more, having educated practitioners and others and having been actively involved in leadership and professional activities.
Slain is an associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and is also an anti-infective clinical specialist. He is also the program director and principal mentor for the Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy Specialized Residency at WVU Healthcare.
Slain is active in several national infectious diseases and pharmacy associations. He was named the 2007 Clinician of the Year by the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists and is also a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
