Please join the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in welcoming new members to their team.

Department of Epidemiology

Toni Marie Rudisill, MS, PhD, recently joined the Department of Epidemiology as a Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Rudisill graduated with her PhD in Epidemiology from West Virginia University in 2015. After graduation, she worked as an Epidemiologist at the West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center. Prior to her time at WVU, Dr. Rudisill spent nearly a decade working in public health as a scientist in state government. Dr. Rudisill’s current research focuses on the relationship between substance use, transportation safety, and health policy. She also has an interest in spatial and environmental epidemiology.

Department of Biostatistics

Niel Infante is Lead Bioinformatician with the Department of Biostatistics and will serve as instructor for an undergraduate class. He studies Bioinformatics with an emphasis on Genomics and high throughput sequencing. His current projects include using RNA-seq to explore problems as diverse as breast cancer in humans and drought tolerance in Soy. 16S metagenomics allows glimpses of the changes in microbiomes affected by diet or stroke. Whole exome sequencing looks at genomic variants in tumors to investigate causes of skin cancer. Niel has master’s degrees in mathematics and computer science and has studied at Oberlin College, Wesleyan University, the University of Connecticut, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of California Irvine. He has been Lead Bioinformatician for the WVU Genomics Core since 2012.
