Tennis Classic winners announced

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Winners of the 13th Annual University Healthcare Foundation Frank Sabado, Jr., M.D., Tennis Classic, which raised $15,000 in net proceeds to benefit WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center, were recently announced.

The champions were Doug Hart in the men’s division and Tracy Housden in the women’s division. Finishing second were Duc Le in the men’s division and Jana Bressler in the women’s division. Lewis Charette had the most aces. Thirty-six players participated in the tournament, which was held on Sept. 10 at St. James School.  

The University Healthcare Foundation sponsors this annual fall fundraising event along with a group of local physicians and community leaders who serve on the organizing committee. Serving as event co-chairs are Ernie Agbayani, M.D., and Roberto Reyna, M.D.  

Since the tournament was established in 2004, more than $165,000 has been raised to fund patient care equipment at Berkeley Medical Center, as well as the hospital’s community service projects.

The University Healthcare Tennis Classic is held annually on the second Saturday in September. For more information, call the Foundation office at 304-264-1223.
